William Langland, an English poet pens a poem called “Piers Plowman” around 1360 AD, wherein he says, “patience is a fair virtue.” It truly is a virtue of the top most order. Much needed by each of us, and much helpful at all times.
The Bible has a record of those who showed exemplary patience in their lives. Abraham waited 25 years. Joseph waited 13 years. Moses waited 40 years. David waited 23 years. Our LORD Jesus Himself waited for 30 long years, before He commenced His three-and-half years of earthly ministry.” It goes on to speak about the significance of waiting and patience in our lives.
The LORD exhorts us to wait patiently upon Him for our needs – “31 but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” – Isaiah 40:31. How wonderful, isn’t it?
“25 The LORD is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him. 26 It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD. 27 It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth.” – Lamentations 3:25-27. Can’t say it any clearer than this.
Therefore, let us then wait patiently upon the LORD for all our needs. He knows our needs very well. He will most certainly do what is needful at the right time. We have to wait patiently upon Him. Let us wait patiently.
"Teach us, O Lord, the disciplines of patience, for to wait is often harder than to work."
