A story is told about a king who announced to his courtiers, that whatever they can lay their hands on, in five minutes, it will become theirs, forever. An opportunity never to be missed, isn’t it?
Everyone started to gather gold, silver and precious stones from the throne room. One man just walked upto the king, and took hold of him.
Any material possessions that the courtiers gathered will be spent ultimately, or could be lost, or stolen by someone. One day, they will be back to where they were. Even if they were smart, the increase would be nominal.
The man who had the king, has everything the king has…he would have riches, power, authority, respect and position…unlimited. What a bargain!!!
The moral of the story – get what is precious, priceless and of eternal value, and never what is perishable, and for a moment. Let our heart be focussed on the King of all creation, and not on the innumerable blessings that are available. The blessings are good, but they are not important. The One who blesses, is the One after whom, we should be running…not the blessings themselves. If we belong to the LORD, then we are under His shadow [Psalm 91,] and all that we need, will be given to us by the LORD Himself.
Therefore, “31…take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. 33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” – Matthew 6:31-33.
"To fall in love with God is the greatest romance; to seek him the greatest adventure; to find him, the greatest human achievement."
