Christmas texts in the Bible so vividly portray the state of human beings, and the care of our Creator. Even though we have rebelled against Him, and have rejected Him because of our sin, He graciously and mercifully cares for our welfare. That is grace and mercy in action, not helplessness.
John, the beloved disciple, writing about the true LIGHT and the darkness, has these words for us in John 1:5-12…
“5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. 8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. 9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
10 He [the true LIGHT] was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. 11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:” – John 1:5-12.
The compassion and the care of our Creator is displayed in His concern for us – the darkness. The true LIGHT has come to dispel our darkness, and illuminate our dark, dull and lifeless lives with His light. Would we be wise to carefully consider it, and not reject so great an offer? Someone wisely said, “We can choose what we want do, but we can’t choose the consequences of the choices we make.”
"Isn't there anyone who knows what Christmas is all about?"
