Truth is paramount for our lives. It is the only thing that leads us from darkness to light. However, truth is also, sadly, the most obscured object. It is hidden because of lies, and our lack of desire to passionately pursue it. Truth, therefore, is the first among the fatalities, in the present world, where getting what we want at any cost is the driving force. Blaise Pascal [1623-1662] affirms the same – “Truth is so obscure in these times, and falsehood so established, that, unless we love the truth, we cannot know it.”
Knowing the truth, is not an automatic process. Observing certain facts, doesn’t automatically enable us to arrive at the truth. Facts do help us to arrive at the truth. However, if only we care enough to investigate them thoroughly, and interpret them wisely within the context and the history of it. Never miss to crosscheck the facts, with other known information and knowledge on the subject.
Certain essential questions that needs to be asked while observing the facts. WHO, WHAT, WHERE, WHEN and WHY are the fundamental and essential questions to ask, while striving to know the truth. Very important.
We need to be aware, that our prejudices, preconceived notions, predeterminedpositions can and will hamper us in arriving at the truth. Therefore, we oughtbe careful and do our best to be as objective and as unbiased as possible. If this exercise is not INTENTIONALLY done, we will end up tilting towards ourpreferences and biases. A certainty.
May the good LORD help us to be objective and unbiased in our pursuit of truth.
"A thing is not necessarily true because badly uttered, nor false because spoken magnificently."
