Ethan the Ezrahite [1 Kings 4:31] pens his personal contemplation in Psalm 89. He is remembering the covenant which YAHWEH made with David, and the sorrow for all the lost blessings of his people.
Though Ethan digs into the lost blessings of his people, and the sorrow thereof, it is not a hopeless Psalm. Rather, it is a Psalm that speaks gloriously about YAHWEH, His mercy, and His steadfast love towards the people of God. How wonderful it is to see these thoughts unfolding in this Psalm of 52 verses!
Right at the beginning [89:1] we see Ethan the Ezrahite setting the tone and the tenor of this amazing Psalm – “1 I will sing of the mercies of the LORD forever; With my mouth will I make known Your faithfulness to all generations.” What a way to being one’s contemplation!
On numerous occasions I have been personally blessed, encouraged and uplifted in my spirit, simply by reading this Psalm. It has a parallel to the Christian walk, and the Church as God’s people. I am sure it will be a blessing to you too. Please read the entire Psalm.
May the LORD bless our day, as we praise God for all His goodness, grace and mercies. I will sing of the mercies of the LORD, forever I will sing….
"We think when we are in trouble we get ease by complaining; but we do more, we get joy, by praising. Let our complaints therefore be turned into thanksgiving."
