There are times of dry and dusty seasons in everyone’s life. Seasons where life not only gets tough and difficult, but kind of hopeless and helpless. How do we face it? Who will help us? Who can give us hope? Would things change? Tough place to be in. Isn’t it?
Among all the sources for help and hope, there is one place which is a “Sure Help” – the LORD God Almighty, our Creator and Redeemer! He is not someone who will abandon us. There is help and hope available ONLY in the LORD Jesus Christ.
The LORD will correct us if required, and it is good for us. He will prevent us in the process of protecting us. But, He will not abandon us. We see prophet Samuel admonishing and advising the people of Israel in 1 Samuel 12:20-25, which still holds good for us, even today – “20 Then Samuel said to the people, “Do not fear. You have done all this wickedness; yet do not turn aside from following the LORD, but serve the LORD with all your heart. 21 And do not turn aside; for then you would go after empty things which cannot profit or deliver, for they are nothing. 22 For the LORD will not forsake His people, for His great name’s sake, because it has pleased the LORD to make you His people. 23 Moreover, as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the LORD in ceasing to pray for you; but I will teach you the good and the right way. 24 Only fear the LORD, and serve Him in truth with all your heart; for consider what great things He has done for you. 25 But if you still do wickedly, you shall be swept away, both you and your king.”
Let us take courage from the words of the prophet. Let us seek to follow his advise. Let be faithful and obedient to the LORD our God, our Creator and our Redeemer. May the LORD help us.
