For man, to wait is one of the most difficult things. Patience is paramount for a Christian. More so, when we are besetted by problems, and there are no answers to be found, let alone solutions.
Patience is good. Waiting is good. It builds our capacity to endure and ensures we move in the right direction. However, it has to be coupled with measured thinking that learns to lean on God and not in self.
Patiently waiting upon God is not only the best thing to do, but more importantly, that is the only thing that is going to give us lasting fruits. Vaneetha Rendall Risner’s observations on waiting on God, gives us an insight into “patience in waiting upon God” – “This is the most precious answer God can give us: wait. It makes us cling to him rather than to an outcome. God knows what I need; I do not. He sees the future; I cannot. His perspective is eternal; mine is not. He will give me what is best for me when it is best for me.” – [The Scars That Have Shaped Me: How God Meets Us in Suffering]
This is precisely what David says in Psalm 27:13-14 – “13 I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.
14 Wait on the LORD:
be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.”
Let us learn to wait upon the LORD. He always thinks only the very best for us.
"Waiting exposes our idols and throws a wrench into our coping mechanisms. It brings us to the end of what we can control and forces us to cry out to God. God doesn't waste our waiting. He uses it to conform us to the image of his Son."
