Caring for those in need, and sharing whatever one can, is an integral part of the Christian faith. If we see the account of fall, in the book of Genesis, and the subsequent plan of redemption, that the LORD God Almighty, our Creator, thought about and executed, in and through Jesus Christ of Nazareth, we understand the heart and the love of God, in rescuing and restoring us, the reckless and rebellious people. This redemption has been accomplishing by the fact, that the LORD cared for us so much, that He gave Himself up, as a sacrifice, for our redemption and restoration.
As the “children of God,” how should we be in helping those in need? Should we not follow our LORD? The Church has faithfully followed this principle of caring and sharing. We see this in Romans 15:25-26 – “25 But now I am going to Jerusalem to minister to the saints. 26 For it pleased those from Macedonia and Achaia to make a certain contribution for the poor among the saints who are in Jerusalem.” How wonderful!!!
When we give for the needs of others who are less privileged, it speaks a lot about our hearts, and what we hold and dear to us. Let us learn to follow our LORD, in caring and sharing for the needs of those around us.
"When a man becomes a Christian, he becomes industrious, trustworthy and prosperous. Now, if that man when he gets all he can and saves all he can does not give all he can, I have more hope for Judas Iscariot than for that man!"
