We all need help. There is no one who doesn’t need help and assistance. The need for help indicates our finiteness, and, our inability and helplessness to do anything about the need. This leaves us with only one option – “to seek someone else to help us.” This is the reality.
Man being proud, may find it hard to seek help. We want it, but on our own terms, without having to get down from our high horse. No wonder we are sinking deeper into the pit.
Unlike many, the two blind men [Matthew 20:29-34] during Jesus’ times, knew their problem; realised they can’t help themselves; and that it has to be a miracle for them to see; concluded after analysis, that the Man called Jesus Christ from Nazareth, is the solution to all that ails them, and that He could help them for sure.
So, when they HEARD Jesus was in town, they ENSURED that they were in the RIGHT place, and at the RIGHT time. When they heard Jesus was close by, they did what they could do the best – “Shouted at the top of their voice, and sought His help.”
They were utterly shameless in their shouting. They didn’t care who was around, and what the others thought about them. They knew their problem. They knew their solution. They pursued Jesus with all their heart.
What happened, is that the LORD Jesus, says the Bible in Matthew 20:34, had COMPASSION! The God of all creation had compassion on the two blind men – “34 So Jesus had compassion and touched their eyes. And immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed Him.”
What a testimony about these two blind men – “…they followed Him.” This indicates about their heart, and the overflowing gratitude for the One who healed them. They were not just after the miracle. Nay…they were after the Messiah!!! This is our greatest need.
"30 And behold, two blind men sitting by the road, when they heard that Jesus was passing by, cried out, saying, “Have mercy on us, O Lord, Son of David!” 31 Then the multitude warned them that they should be quiet; but they cried out all the more, saying, “Have mercy on us, O Lord, Son of David!” 32 So Jesus stood still and called them, and said, “What do you want Me to do for you?” 33 They said to Him, “Lord, that our eyes may be opened."
