A heart that realises God’s greatness, is the heart, that first needs to recognise our futility and our finiteness. The human attitude, and its dependence of self, acts as a major obstacle in truly worshipping God. This is an age old problem, right from Lucifer till date.
David was a brave man. He faced many a challenge in his life. He faced the storms in his life with courage. Yet he recognised that, he is but a “worm” and a worthless person – Psalm 22:6. His courage and his victories made him realise the goodness and the greatness of God. This is a heart that truly worships.
“10 Therefore David blessed the LORD before all the assembly; and David said: “Blessed are You, LORD God of Israel, our Father, forever and ever.
11 Yours, O LORD, is the greatness, The power and the glory,
The victory and the majesty;
For all that is in heaven and in earth is Yours;
Yours is the kingdom, O LORD,
And You are exalted as head over all.
12 Both riches and honour come from You,
And You reign over all.
In Your hand is power and might;
In Your hand it is to make great
And to give strength to all.
13 “Now therefore, our God,
We thank You
And praise Your glorious name.” – 1 Chronicles 29:10-13
Many a man fell, not because of the problems he faced, but because of the success he enjoyed. Let us, like David, see the finiteness of human endeavours, and the infiniteness of the LORD. Let us praise and worship the LORD for who He is!!!
"Saints are described as fearing the name of God; they are reverent worshippers; they stand in awe of the Lord’s authority; they are afraid of offending Him; they feel their own nothingness in the sight of the Infinite One."
