Walking the way of the LORD, the STRAIGHT and the NARROW way is not simple and easy. It surely is fraught with ditches and dangers. Paul uses the analogy of sports to speak about our walk with the LORD in 1 Corinthians 9:24-27.
I see the walk of a Christian is like a game of football. The aim of the team, and the individual player is to score the goal for your team. The opponents are not going to sit and watch us scoring goals. They will do their best to stop us from doing so. The only difference being, life of a Christian is much tougher than a game. The opponent and his team will follow no rules, and will use every conceivable way, means and methods to trip and stop us.
Therefore, the words of Paul to young Timothy come handy to us, even this day, in our walk with the LORD – “20 O Timothy! Guard what was committed to your trust, avoiding the profane and idle babblings and contradictions of what is falsely called knowledge— 21 by professing it some have strayed concerning the faith. Grace be with you. Amen.” – 1 Timothy 6:20
Let us guard what is committed to us, and steadfastly move forward for the glory of our LORD, and for the blessing of His people.
"Lord of all power, I give You my will, In joyful obedience Your tasks to fulfill. Your bondage is freedom; Your service is song; And held in Your keeping, my weakness is strong."
