Gratitude is one of those human traits that throws light on the human heart, like no other. Most of the times, than not, we tend to forget the struggles and the helper, once we succeed at what we were struggling with. It is the trait that indicates our fallen human heart.
A certain ten lepers met Jesus, asking Him to heal them, as recorded in Luke 17:11-19. Jesus heals them of this dreaded sickness. However, only one of the ten returns to thank the One who healed them – “17 And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?” – Luke 17:17
Herein is a fine example of the human heart. Everyone of us are guilty of such a thing in our lives, at some point of time or the other. This is an indicator of our heart, and the “leprosy” with which it is affected. Don’t you think so?
Gratitude keeps our feet firmly on the ground, and keeps our eyes firmly fixed on the LORD, who and who alone, is worthy of all praise, glory and thanks, forever and ever. The simple fact, that we are alive today is a blessing from God.
– A grateful heart thinks and thanks about all that one has already received, than coming to the LORD with new requests.
– A grateful heart is a heart that is content and happy with whatever the LORD provides.
– A grateful heart is unconcerned about what will happen, because it knows the LORD will provide all that is needed.
– A grateful heart sees every blessing, small or great as undeserving and unmerited…therefore the gratefulness and the gratitude.
Let us, therefore be ever so grateful and thankful to our LORD for all His goodness and grace.
"No matter what our circumstances, we can find a reason to be thankful."
