The Bible says that the words can pour life into our lives – “21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue…” – Proverbs 18:21. Certain words that people speak to us can encourage and inspire us immensely; especially when we are down in the dumps.
One such person, who “truly” and “literally” was “down in the dumps,” got to hear some wonderful and amazing words, that made him leap out and jump around. The healing of the paralytic man, brought to Jesus by his friends, breaking open the roof of the house, because there was no way to reach Jesus is found in Matthew, Mark and Luke.
Seeing the paralytic man, Jesus said these words – “2…Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee. 6…Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house. 7 And he arose, and departed to his house.” – Matthew 9:2,6,7.
Can there be any sweeter, comforting, encouraging and inspiring words than to hear the LORD say to us – “Child, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee.” These words, not only erase all our sins, but also give us a brand new life!
It is…
A life that is precious and priceless.
A life that cannot be bought or earned by us.
A life that comes to us by the grace of God, through the faith in the finished work of the LORD Jesus Christ.
"Man has two great spiritual needs. One is for forgiveness. The other is for goodness."
