The LORD has a special heart for guileless people, who in other words are simple and innocent individuals. Even though, it is true, that “all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God [Romans 3:23; 6:23,] He surely cares for them, and certainly stand with them – “6 The LORD preserves the simple; I was brought low, and He saved me.” – Psalms 116:6.
The world may count such people foolish, ignorant, silly and stupid, which is not the case…guileless and foolishness are two different things. The Word of God affirms guilelessness, as an important character trait for us…
“2 Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.”
“11 Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD.
12 What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good?
13 Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.
14 Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.
15 The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.” – Psalm 32:2; 34:11-15.
May the LORD help us to check our hearts, its motives, and grant us grace to correct ourselves, as He so desires for His children.
"The Christian Gospel is that I am so flawed that Jesus had to die for me, yet I am so loved and valued that Jesus was glad to die for me. This leads to deep humility and deep confidence at the same time. It undermines both swaggering and snivelling. I cannot feel superior to anyone, and yet I have nothing to prove to anyone. I do not think more of myself or less of myself. Instead, I think of myself less."
