Praising and exalting LORD our Creator, is the best thing we can ever do, all our lives. To praise and exalt God doesn’t come to us naturally. With the fall and the consequences of it, we are more keen about ourselves…self-centred if we may like it, than thanking and praising another person…let alone God.
The Word of God speaking through the Psalmist in Psalm 118 has this to advise us, in regards to WHY we should praise, exalt and thank God…
“28 Thou art my God, and I will PRAISE thee: thou art my God, I will EXALT thee.
29 O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.” – Psalms 118:28-29.
The Psalm, in fact begins with a call to worship God with thanks, and lines out the reasons for us to do so…
“1 O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: because his mercy endureth for ever.
2 Let ISRAEL now say…3 Let the house of AARON now say…4 Let them now that FEAR the LORD say, that his mercy endureth for ever.” – Psalms 118:1-4.
Do we need to look any further than being alive this morning, to praise, thank and exalt God? Let us be thankful and grateful to the LORD, who always cares for us, and our welfare…and is ever so merciful towards us.
"Through him [Jesus] then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name."
