Persecution of Christians is NOT about the face…it never was, and never will be. The Word of God says that, we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against powers unseen – Ephesians 6:12.
The enemy that we are up against is cunning and cruel. He cares for none, and has no moral bearings to live by. He will not stop at anything, nor will he subject himself to some rules and regulations.
The persecution of Christians is instigated and sustained by the enemy. Therefore, it is never about a human face. Let us not be under any illusion, whatever the face that stands in front of us, our enemy is never a fellow human. It never was, and it never will be. Humans are merely agents of the fallen angel, and his hordes.
So, how then should we face and fight an unseen enemy?
First and foremost, we must pray to the LORD, and trust His grace to sustain and guide us through the storm…
“17 The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles. 18 The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. 19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.” – Psalm 34:17-19
Secondly, we need to stand in support of each other…
“3 Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body.” – Hebrews 13:3
Thirdly, we should faithfully follow the principle that the LORD Jesus laid down in regards to the enemy…
“But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.” – Matthew 5:44
May the LORD help us live as His faithful witnesses in trying and testing times.
"Bearing our cross does not mean wearing gunny sacks and long faces. Some people…wear the look of a martyr every time they hear criticism. Sometimes we deserve the criticism we receive; however, we are blessed only when men speak evil against us falsely for Christ’s sake."
