Traditionally, the next day after Christmas is called, the “BOXING DAY.” According to the Encyclopaedia Britannica, the custom of the “Boxing Day” arose because servants, who would have to wait on their masters on Christmas Day, were permitted to visit their families the next day. Their employers would give them boxes to take home containing gifts, bonuses and, sometimes, leftover food.
Christmas is all about “gifts” and giving! Jesus Christ, is Himself given as a “gift,” so that, we who are in darkness and sin, would be set free from our bondage – “6 For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given…” – Isaiah 9:6
The gift we got from the Master of the universe, our LORD, our Creator and our Redeemer is not only precious, but is also, priceless! “21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” – 2 Corinthians 5:21
Have we received this gift? Praise God if we have. If not, ask God, and He will give this “gift” to us! – “20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.” – Revelation 3:20.
"The very purpose of Christ's coming into the world was that he might offer up his life as a sacrifice for the sins of men. He came to die. This is the heart of Christmas."
