Many in this world mistakenly pursue money, believing it will fill their lives with joy and happiness. Sadly, we have many an example of how the money, and the love of it, has destroyed lives, and not the other way around. Money is important for many things in life, but money is not everything. One can live with less money happily, and even without money too. Money can help us buy many things, but it certainly cannot buy us happiness.
The Bible exhorts us that, money doesn’t help us build a happy life, and a happy home. It is an illusion that makes us believe it does. It never did, and it never will. Proverbs 24:3-4 says – “By WISDOM a house is built, and by UNDERSTANDING it is established; by KNOWLEDGE the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches.” Now where is the money in all this? Nowhere!!!
May the LORD help us see the reality about riches. May the LORD help us see the futility and the fleeting nature of money and its utter inability to fill our lives with joy and happiness. May the LORD help us pursue Him and things that truly help us.
"A dreadful thing is the love of money! It disables both eyes and ears, and makes men worse to deal with than a wild beast, allowing a man to consider neither conscience nor friendship nor fellowship nor salvation."
