The high intensity events of the week, ending in the death of Jesus on the cross, was surely, the anti-climax for many who were looking for a change in status quo.
For those who thought about Jesus, as a liberator from the oppressive rule of Rome – their future was crushed. Those who looked upon Jesus as a good man, and a great teacher – they saw the crushing of the good man, and their good teacher.
Those who considered Jesus to be a prophet, and a man of God – were perplexed, wondering, ‘How could this happen?’ The disciples themselves were shattered, scattered and scared. Their dreams of a bright and beautiful days, were all left shattered, and they were totally lost – almost all of them.
There is a lesson for every Christian to learn, when we meditate upon the day between the crucifixion and the resurrection. The LORD God Almighty, our Creator and our Redeemer is Sovereign, and He reigns over everything. Let us remember what the LORD said in Isaiah 55:8-9 – “8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
Therefore, let us learn to TRUST God always. Let us learn to WAIT PATIENTLY upon God and His TIMING. He is Sovereign, and He is in control of everything. Nothing comes as a surprise to Him…nothing is an accident…nothing is by chance. He knows the end, from the beginning. He is the Alfa and the Omega of all things. He is Omniscient, Omnipotent and Omnipresent – “27 Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there anything too hard for me?” – Jeremiah 32:27. Hence, let us join prophet Jeremiah in affirming – “17 Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee:” – Jeremiah 32:17.
"Here is what I know to be true: messed up men will often panic and try to control the chaos. Waiting is one of the hardest spiritual disciplines. Waiting is spelled T-R-U-S-T."
