Money has a way with our hearts. It has tremendous power to sway us, our hearts, and our affections. Unless one is careful and wise with money, it can trip many a child of God, and enslave us to itself…may be, forever. The Bible so wisely says – “10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” – 1 Timothy 6:10
There are four essential dimensions, that we need to take note, and implement, when it comes to holding our finances under godly reigns. We need to…
1- SURRENDER all that we have, to God, the giver of all good things. He is the rightful owner of all that we possess.
2- SAVE a predetermined amount of money. It is wise to save, when we have in excess, so that, when we need it the most, on a rainy day, it will stand good to help us.
3- SPEND we all must, for it is an essential aspect of our life and our living. Therefore, we must have a clear perspective of what is needed for our life, and what are our desires. We can live without our desires, but our needs have to be met…for they are essential.
4- SERVE the needs of the kingdom of God, by helping others – not only with all that we have, especially our money, but also, and more importantly, by our hearts and our minds.
The Word of God, encourages us to use what God had blessed us with, in a wise and worthy manner – “17 Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy. 18 Let them do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share, 19 storing up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.” – 1 Timothy 6:17-19
Even so the LORD help us.
"We should never think that once we have given some money and time to the Lord that the rest is ours to do with as we please. All that we have belongs to God, so He should be taken into consideration in everything we do."
