Gratitude is a wonderful word. Surely, we all like it very much. I would define gratitude as – “an overflow of emotion filled with thanks, in response to experiencing someone’s benevolence, grace and love.”
The Bible speaks a lot on this subject. The Psalm 147:7 says – “7 Sing unto the LORD with thanksgiving; sing praise upon the harp unto our God:” Pamela Palmer writing in her article, “Is an “Attitude of Gratitude” Scriptural?” writes, “The Bible sends a clear message that cultivating gratefulness is vital to our faith. When we turn to the book of Psalms, we see that the writers went to great lengths to praise the Lord and give thanks, regardless of their circumstances.”
Sadly, gratitude is not as significant as it so rightfully ought to be, in a Christian’s life. It is expressed the least. We are encouraged by the Word of God, to be thankful and grateful to God, at all times – good or bad; sad or happy – and for all things received – big or small; significant or insignificant – “18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:18
May the LORD help us to always grateful to the LORD, who loves and cares for us.
"Some people could be given an entire field of roses and only see the thorns in it. Others could be given a single weed and only see the wildflower in it. Perception is a key component to gratitude, and gratitude is a key component to joy."
