The LORD Jesus always speaks with clarity, and without any ambiguity. One of the many passages, where the clarity of Jesus’ words are to be seen, is found in Matthew 25:31-46. The scene is from the Great Judgement, where the LORD Jesus, the Shepherd, says to His sheep…
– “34 Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35 for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; 36 I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’” – Matthew 25:34-36
Then the righteous will answer Him…
– “37…Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink?”
And the KING will say to them…
– “40…‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.” – Matthew 25:37,40
Tim Keller, a Pastor, observes, “There is an inequitable distribution of both goods and opportunities in this world. Therefore, if you have been assigned the goods of this world by God and you don’t share them with others, it isn’t just stinginess, it is injustice.” Do we see the world around us, and the countless people in it, this way? Don’t you think, this is in line with, what the LORD had taught us?
It is a fact, that the good LORD has blessed us with many things. The LORD who gave us, what we have, expects from us, that we would care enough for the needy, and willingly, ungrudgingly, and joyfully share our blessings with them. How are we sharing today? Is it in proportion to what is given to us by God? Are we willingly giving or grudgingly? Are we at peace while giving what God had given us? Are we happy and joyful when sharing our blessings, with those who are less fortunate? Are we giving liberally and generously to those who are in need? Do we realise that, what we have is not we deserve? Do we recognise that, what we have is a gift from God, given to us, out of His love, grace and mercy?
When we stand before the LORD, one day, my dear brothers and sisters, He would look at us, and say, “My child, what have you done, with what I have given you?” THEN THE KING WILL ANSWER…did you “CARE TO SHARE” all that I gave you? – remember the Parable of Talents? Therefore, let us take a deep look at the scripture portion, the words of our LORD, and the above questions, with an intention to evaluate ourselves, and our giving. May the LORD help us to give, as He had given us, the LORD Jesus, and all His generous grace, in our need, and made us rich in a wholesome way. Even so the LORD help us.
"The Lord so perfectly identifies himself with the human family, whose nature he assumed, that he made their sorrows sufferings his own (Isaiah 53:4; Isaiah 63:9; Matthew 8:17), he suffered with the sufferers; his perfect sympathy placed him in their position; in all their affliction he was afflicted. From this identification it follows that he regards that which is done to others as done to himself.""
