July 29, 2024On Friday 26 July 2024, the Paris Olympics had its opening ceremony. One of the items on it was the depiction of the “Last Supper.” The Reuters News reports…
– “It recreated the famous biblical scene of Jesus Christ and his twelve apostles sharing a last meal before crucifixion, but with a group of drag queens, a transgender model and a naked singer made up as the Greek god of wine Dionysus.” How should we see the depiction of the Last Supper, in such poor light.
I don’t want to be an alarmist, nor talk about politics and geopolitics. I want us to see something far bigger that is happening right in front of our eyes. What we are seeing is a very clear sign of the tectonic shiftings, taking place in the world. Hope we are able to see. It is a definite indication of things to come, from what many call as the “Christian West.” We have seen it in the Commonwealth Games’ opening ceremony, at Birmingham, UK, in the not so distant past, and now in Paris. The signs are ominous and clear…it is but natural…the trend is all across the globe…in various forms and shapes…the hate for Christ the LORD, and all that the Bible stands for.

The opening ceremony was filled with transgender mockery of the Last Supper, the Golden Calf idol, and even the Pale Horse from the Book of Revelation, know that it is not France that is speaking but a left-wing minority ready for any provocation. #notinmyname.”

– “The Paris Olympics is under fire for including a “child” in their hyper-sexualized, blasphemous rendition of The Last Supper. Instead of bringing people together, the planners of the event apparently wanted to mock the religion of 2.4 billion people.”
Elon Musk is more tempered in his observations…
– “This was extremely disrespectful to Christians.”
The Bible talks about “Perilous Times and Perilous Men in the Last Days.” Surely these are last days…
– “1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!” – 2 Timothy 3:1-5
Bill Muehlenberg, writing in his article, “Where To Now? Living In an Anti-Christian West” has some very strong and insightful observations on the history of the West, in particular, how the Christian aspect of it, has been eroding, over the many centuries…
– “…the secularisation and de-Christianisation of the West started much earlier than when you and I were born. It has been happening for a number of centuries now. But ideas take a while to filter down into everyday culture, and now we are feeling the impact of modernism, the Enlightenment, and related intellectual movements.”
May the LORD help us to shine forth for Him, as His true disciples, even in the face of the ever increasing darkness, in the world. As the days progress, it would be even more open, and even more stronger…the hate for the LORD Jesus Christ. Even so the LORD help us to be His witnesses.
