When we look at God’s people, down through the ages, the LORD God Almighty, always called His people, to *”walk by faith, and not by sight”* – 2 Corinthians 5:7. David expressed the same in Psalm 23, when said…
– “1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. 3 He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake.” – Psalms 23:1-3
The idea being conveyed, and the point we need to catch, from the above Scripture portion, is this – The LORD is the Shepherd of His People, and we are the sheep of His pasture.
– “6 Oh come, let us worship and bow down; Let us kneel before the LORD our Maker. 7 For He is our God, And we are the people of His pasture, And the sheep of His hand. Today, if you will hear His voice:” – Psalms 95:6-7
To walk by faith is no small thing for us, since we are so used to walk, only by sight, and by confirming the same. To walk by faith, requires great courage…and we cannot have courage without faith in our LORD’s ability to provide, protect and prosper us, on the way that He had called us, to walk.
On 17 August, in the year 1662* as history of the Church records, two thousand Non-conformist pastors, [Baptists, Congregationalists, Presbyterians, Methodists, and Unitarians; also, independent groups like, the Quakers, Plymouth Brethren, English Moravians, Churches of Christ, and the Salvation Army] preached their farewell sermons, to their congregations, in England, since, they were expelled from their Anglican pulpits and parishes, by law. These two thousand pastors felt compelled in their hearts, in obedience to the promptings of their consciences, in the light of the scriptures, to walk by faith in the LORD. It is an act of courageous faith, to stand against the king, and his apparatus. Yet, they chose to stand for their convictions.
We are in need of such courageous faith in these days. People, who are willing to stand up, and declare their convictions, boldly and courageously. It is not some foolhardy faith. Nay, but rather, a faith that is willing to stand-out, and shout as clearly, and as loudly as possible, about our LORD, and about our faith in Him. It surely is, COURAGEOUS FAITH. May the LORD help us to stand up for Him.
"God of our life, there are days when the burdens we carry chafe our shoulders and weigh us down; when the road seems dreary and endless, the skies grey and threatening; when our lives have no music in them, and our hearts are lonely, and our souls have lost their courage. Flood the path with light, run our eyes to where the skies are full of promise; tune our hearts to brave music; give us the sense of comradeship with heroes and saints of every age; and so quicken our spirits that we may be able to encourage the souls of all who journey with us on the road of life, to Your honour and glory."
