Everyone of us, whether great or small, rich or poor, literate or illiterate, have needs, and they have to be met. Add to this, the desires and wants of man. Such is the press of these needs and wants that, many are concerned about them, and many don’t mind, willingly walk the wrong path, to get them. What about us as a Christian? How should we carry forward?
I am reminded of Thomas O. Chisholm’s, hymn, “Great is Thy faithfulness” written in 1923. It is a classic hymn ever written; and this hymn is, one of the most favourite hymns. It has great power in its words, to calm any troubled heart. It reassures the person, to have faith is Jesus, because He is faithful, apart from being good, gracious and merciful.
Here is the first stanza and the refrain, which I am sure will inspire you this morning to sing this amazing hymn, and continue it all through the day.
– “Great is thy faithfulness, O God, my Father; There is no shadow of turning with thee. Thou changest not, thy compassions, they fail not; As thou hast been, thou forever wilt be. Great is thy faithfulness, Great is thy faithfulness, Morning by morning new mercies I see. All I have needed thy hand hast provided; Great is thy faithfulness, Lord unto me.”
Whenever we are troubled or disturbed, it is good to meditate upon God’s faithfulness towards us. Let us read Psalm 36, which gives us a deep insight into God and His steadfast love, and His faithfulness.
– “5 Your steadfast love, O LORD, extends to the heavens, your faithfulness to the clouds. 6 Your righteousness is like the mountains of God; your judgments are like the great deep; man and beast you save, O LORD. 7 How precious is your steadfast love, O God! The children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of your wings. 8 They feast on the abundance of your house, and you give them drink from the river of your delights. 9 For with you is the fountain of life; in your light do we see light. 10 Oh, continue your steadfast love to those who know you, and your righteousness to the upright of heart!” – Psalms 36:5-10
“ALL I HAVE NEEDED, THY HAND HATH PROVIDED” – Let us keep singing this, all through the day, and throughout our lives – the steadfast love of God, and His never changing faithfulness towards us. May this thought, inspire us to seek our LORD and Saviour, with all our hearts, and walk faithfully and obediently, in His ways, knowing that He is dependable and trustworthy, despite any situation that may ever hit us. Even so the LORD help us. Soli Gloria Deo!!!
"I know of nothing which so stimulates my faith in my Heavenly Father as to look back and reflect on His faithfulness to me in every crisis and every chilling circumstance of life. Over and over He has proved His care and concern for my welfare. Again and again I have been conscious of the Good Shepherd’s guidance through dark days and deep valleys."
