Every work that is initiated, has an aim, a goal and a purpose. What is the aim, goal and purpose of God, in loving the world? Let us continue to look at John 3:16, and see, what it has to speak to us, on this matter.
– “16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” – John 3:16
In continuing our study of the above verse, let us look at this question, *”What is the Chief Goal of God’s Love Towards Human Beings?”* The purpose and the goal of this heavenly love is not hidden, but in fact, is made very clear.
– “…that whosoever believeth in him should not perish…”
The Bible makes it amply clear that anyone and everyone who believes in the offer of salvation give by the LORD Jesus Christ, “…should not perish…” Isn’t that wonderful? Oh, it surely is!!! Let us see, in Jesus’ own the words, the purpose and goal of His coming to us.
– “9 And Jesus said unto him…10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.” – Luke 19:9a-10
– “17 When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” – Mark 2:17
Love, as we know from the Bible, seeks to reach out to the lost world – the enemies of God, and rescue the perishing, by resolving the critical issues – the human sin, and to revive us from our lost state, into the new and glorious state, of being the child of God.
– “21…the creation itself will be set free from the servitude of the corruption to the liberty of the glory of the children of God; 22 for we have known that all the creation groans together, and travails in pain together until now. 23 And not only [so], but also we ourselves, having the first-fruit of the Spirit, we also ourselves groan in ourselves, expecting adoption—the redemption of our body;.” – Romans 8:21-23
What love is this, that it does to us, what no one else would ever want to, and no one else could ever? May we always be grateful and thankful to the LORD for His love, grace and mercy towards us. May we never forget it. May we never neglect it. Even so the LORD help us.
"Should not perish: This describes the intention of God’s love. God’s love actually saves man from eternal destruction. God looks at fallen humanity, does not want it to perish, and so in His love He extends the gift of salvation in Jesus Christ."
