The truth about our safety and security is revealed, only when we are put to severest of tests. What one does, under such stressful testing reveals, the source of our strength, the source of our security, the source of our safety, and the source of our refuge. This is precisely what is addressed in Psalm 121:1-2.
– “1 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. 2 My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.” – Psalm 121:1-2
The Psalmist asks a very important question – “WHENCE COMETH MY HELP?” This is a question that, every Christian ought to keep asking, as frequently as possible. The answer to this question, will help us know, the direction of our journey, the Christian walk, and the quality of it.
Have we asked ourselves, this question, of late? What was our answer? The Psalmist, who asks this question, arrived at this conclusion – “MY HELP COMETH FROM THE LORD, WHICH MADE HEAVEN AND EARTH.” The conclusion that the Psalmist arrived at, tells us about his faith, and his trust in the LORD. For the Psalmist, the source of all his safety, security, strength and refuge is YAHWEH, the LORD God Almighty, the Creator of everything, and the Sustainer of all things. Would we be able to find anything more stable and secure than, the LORD Jesus Christ? It would be silly of us, even to entertain an attempt, at such a search.
What about us dear brothers and sisters? Who is the source of our safety, security, strength and refuge? Do we consider God Almighty to be our Protector and Provider? Do we place our faith, and our trust, in God our Creator, and walk confidently in the knowledge of this fact that, in His goodness, grace and mercy, He will safeguard and sustain us, through all the trials and the tests? May we, like the Psalmist declare with faith, “MY HELP COMETH FROM THE LORD, WHICH MADE HEAVEN AND EARTH.” Even so, the LORD help us.
"No one enjoys feeling weak, whether it is emotionally, spiritually or physically. There is something within the human spirit that wants to resist the thought of weakness. Many times this is nothing more than our human pride at work. Just as weakness carries a great potential for strength, pride carries an equally great potential for defeat."
