Expressing regret and remorse for our faults, wrongs and mistakes, and apologising for the same is, not so simple and easy, for many many people. A simple and genuine “I Am SORRY” are one of the most difficult words, to ever be uttered, for many people. Call it our pride and ego, or anything else, which stops us from apologising, but a sorry doesn’t seem to come as quickly and sincerely, as one wants others to apologise, and say sorry to us.
Anyone who has problems to say sorry. Anyone who cannot say sorry. Anyone who has the inability to bring themselves to speak these five letter word – SORRY – genuinely, sincerely and quickly, has very serious problems. They are walking in the same time tested path of Lucifer. He could never bring himself to say sorry to God, when he had sinned. Adam and Eve also, could not simply say sorry, for their clear disobedience, and open rebellion.
Beware and be careful. That is why the Word of God says be quick to say sorry.
– “13 Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.” – Proverbs 28:13
– “5 I acknowledged my sin to you, and I did not cover my iniquity; I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD,” and you forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah” – Psalms 32:5
– “8 If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.” – 1 John 1:8-10
May the LORD grant us the grace to be people who are humble, tender-hearted and compassionate, in all our dealings with our fellow human beings. May the LORD grant us His grace that, we be quick to apologise, when we are at fault, and even quicker in forgiving others, when they have faulted against us. Even so the LORD help us.
"Refusal to acknowledge, confess and forsake our sin will at the very least stunt our growth as a Christian, at worst, it may be evidence that His Word is not in us and we haven’t experienced Gods saving mercy to begin with."
