The safety and security that the Bible talks about in Proverbs 18:10, is universal in its intent, and in its purpose. Anything that the LORD God Almighty has ever promised in His written Word, the Bible, is universal in its intent and scope. It was never meant to be narrowly interpreted as a promise made exclusively to one particular person, and his physical descendants, falsely attributing to God, the evil of “ethno-centrism.” Therefore, “10 The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.” – Proverbs 18:10. The promises of YAHWEH in His holy Book, are universal, and for all who seek YAHWEH, the God of all creation.
– “15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.” – Genesis 3:15
– “1 Now the LORD had said unto Abram…in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.” – Genesis 12:1-3
Now, in the light of the above thought, let us look at the last name of our LORD, for our meditation – “JEHOVAH TSIDKENU” – it means, “THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS” and is found in Jeremiah 23:6, and also in Jeremiah 33:16.
– “5 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth. 6 In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.” – Jeremiah 23:5-6
– “14 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will perform that good thing which I have promised unto the house of Israel and to the house of Judah. 15 In those days, and at that time, will I cause the Branch of righteousness to grow up unto David; and he shall execute judgment and righteousness in the land. 16 In those days shall Judah be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell safely: and this is the name wherewith she shall be called, The LORD our righteousness.” – Jeremiah 33:14-16
The name JEHOVAH TSIDKENU is a promise of YAHWEH, to raise up a “Branch of righteousness” a future King, from David’s line, who will reign over all the earth, with justice and righteousness, ushering in an era of peace and restoration for “Israel” of YAHWEH – which when considered with other scripture promises, and its subsequent fulfilment in Jesus Christ of Nazareth, is the “Chosen People of God” from every nation and tribe, and not just one set of people.
– “Significance [of the name JEHOVAH TSIDKENU]:The name highlights God’s own righteousness as the source of Israel’s restoration and the ultimate fulfillment of God’s promises. It also points to the Messiah, who is seen as the embodiment of God’s righteousness and the means through which God’s righteousness is extended to [all of] humanity.” – Google’s AI overview
– “9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands; 10 And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.” – Revelation 7:9-10
YAHWEH Himself will become our righteousness, for we, on our own are, utterly incapable of meeting God’s righteousness…
– “21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” – 2 Corinthians 5:21
This act of YAHWEH, in fulfilment of “JEHOVAH TSIDKENU” is intended to usher in, an era of peace and restoration – only possible, in and through Jesus Christ of Nazareth – for “Israel” – who are not just the physical descendants of Abraham, the Jews, but the Israel, which is called the Church, the Bride, the Chosen ones – the called out people of God… keeping in line with God’s original intention of, saving the whole world.
– “5 Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine: 6 And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.” – Exodus 19:5-6
– “9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: 10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.” – 1 Peter 2:9-10
The God of all creation, was working all the while, from the fall of Adam and Eve, in the Garden of Eden, to the cross of Calvary, on a plan of redemption, which always included the whole mankind, and not some exclusive “ethno-centric” group of people. The evidence for which is quite plain and clear in the scriptures.
– “16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” – John 3:16
Where there was an erroneously “perceived distinction” between a Jew and a Gentile, now in Jesus, it is no more. All who come to Christ are the “Chosen Ones” in Jesus – there is no Jew or Gentile – there is no difference, whatsoever. HalleluYah!!!
– “26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.” – Galatians 3:26-29
– “As a Messianic reference, Yahweh Tsidkenu is strong evidence of the deity of the Messiah – He is Yahweh. “The Jews understood the name in v.6b [Jeremiah 23:6b] to be that of the Messiah. The Targum reads, ‘The Messiah of the righteous,’ or ‘The Messiah of righteousness’… They acknowledged the two words to be the name of the Messiah.” – Charles Lee Feinberg
What a wonderful, amazing and glorious God is JEHOVAH TSIDKENU! HalleluYah!!! He is our our “righteousness” and because of Him, we are now accepted by this holy and righteous God, as His own people, even though none of us, including the Jews, are utterly undeserving of this grace. I cannot thank JEHOVAH TSIDKENU, enough, even if I do, nothing but praise and thank Him, all the days of my remaining life. Thank You LORD for granting to us, graciously and mercifully, Your righteousness, which made it possible for us to be called Your children. Grant us this grace, that we would always uphold Your holy and righteous name with honour and respect. Even so, the LORD help us.
"Jesus is the Lord Our Righteousness: Righteousness is something positive. The work of Jesus in His people is not only to clean the stain of sin. The perfect obedience and righteousness of Jesus is ours in Him. “It speaks of one who will not only reflect the righteousness of God but will convey it to his people, making it their own possession."
