When God is with us, and we belong to Him, then songs of praises are but natural, regardless of all what is happening – the struggles and storms – in and around us. The songs of praises flow out of the truth and a fact – that God is with us, and we are His possession; and never on the basis of what is happening. The reason being, what is happening is temporary, and a passing phase. It will change, because God is with us, and we are His possession. Therefore, the Psalmist declares…
– “6 Sing praises to God, sing praises: sing praises unto our King, sing praises. 7 For God is the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding.” – Psalms 47:6-7
What is our situation this morning? What struggles and storms are plaguing us? What are we afraid of? What concerns trouble us? The question for us to be answering is not whether our fears will come true or not. Actually, it is irrelevant. Yes, irrelevant to is. It is irrelevant to us, when we are asking,
– “Is God with is?”
– “Are we walking with God?”
– “On whom are we placing our faith, trust and confidence?”
The above questions will help us know what will happen to us. When our answer is, “God is my refuge and my strength!” then songs of praise flow freely our of our mouths, and we will be joining the Psalmist in shouting…
– “6 Sing praises to God, sing praises: sing praises unto our King, sing praises. 7 For God is the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding.”
May the LORD help us to always seek Him, and help us always be with Him. Even so the LORD help us.
"Praise is appropriately offered with singing and should also be made with understanding. God wants our worship to be intelligent and not mindless. It is not necessary to be smart to worship God, but we should worship Him with all our being, including our mind (Mark 12:30)."
