Today is Monday, the first working day of the week. We have the whole week ahead – Monday to Friday or Saturday. Depending upon the situation and the context, one may be eager and happy to start the week; some others may be tensed and stressed about the week, and all that it holds. These two scenarios are not unusual, nor abnormal. In the cycle of life, we all will go through such phases. Sometimes we are eager and happy to face the week ahead. At some other times, we are tensed and stressed. It is quite normal and expected in anyone’s life.
Now, how about a Christian? Can a Christian be concerned, worried and stressed about the all the work that awaits him in the week ahead? Christians are human beings too, and all human beings go through phases of ups and downs. The difference between the rest of the world, and us, is this – the LORD our God! Here under are a few words of wisdom from the written Word of God, for our blessing, our comfort and our strength. The Bible helps us to clear and clarify any errors in our perspective and attitude, towards work, life and living. May the LORD bless our week.
1- TRUST GOD AT ALL TIMES
– “5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” – Proverbs 3:5-6
2- TAKE ONE DAY AT A TIME
– “34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.” – Matthew 6:34
3- STRESS NOT, BUT SEEK GOD, AND HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS
– “31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. 33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” – Matthew 6:31-33
4- ALWAYS REMEMBER, GOD CARES FOR US AND WALKS WITH US
– “6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: 7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” – 1 Peter 5:6-7
5- SUBMIT TO GOD ALL THAT TROUBLES US, AND LEAVE IT WITH HIM
– “4 Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. 5 Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. 6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:4-7
6- GOD DESIRES ONLY THE BEST FOR US
– “8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts…11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” – Isaiah 55:8-9,11
7- LET US ALWAYS REMEMBER, even as we enter into a new week…
– “7 The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. 8 The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.” – Psalms 121:7-8
The LORD God Almighty, He never leaves us nor forsake us – Hebrews 13:5b. He is always with us. He desires only the good for us. So let us trust Him at all times, and walk in complete obedience and faithfulness, at all times, and in all situations. Even so the LORD help us.
"Our soul is kept from the dominion of sin, the infection of error, the crush of despondency, the puffing up of pride; kept from the world, the flesh and the devil; kept for holier and greater things; kept in the love of God; kept unto the eternal kingdom and glory."
