When God is welcomed into our hearts, and we yield our lives to God, and allow Him free access to work in and through our lives, we see God transforming us, from inside out. When God begins to work in our lives, we see His light shining upon us.
– “God himself is the light which arises in darkness for those who are sincere in their dealings with him.” – Franz Delitzsch
A heart that receives such grace and mercy, from God Almighty, would never be idle and silent. A life touched by God, would want to be an instrument of blessing, in the hands of that God. Such is the power of this transformation. One of the ways in which a “Good Man” yields to God, to bless others, is through, material generosity.
– “9 He hath dispersed, he hath given to the poor; his righteousness endureth for ever; his horn shall be exalted with honour.” – Psalm 112:9
Generosity is not simply giving money and resources, that one has, for the benefit of the poor and the needy. No, that is not how the God of the Bible sees generosity. Generosity is a reflection of our heart, our motives, our intentions, our kindness, our compassion, our eagerness and our earnestness to help those in need.
– “41 Now Jesus sat opposite the treasury and saw how the people put money into the treasury. And many who were rich put in much. 42 Then one poor widow came and threw in two mites, which make a quadrans. 43 So He called His disciples to Himself and said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all those who have given to the treasury; 44 for they all put in out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all that she had, her whole livelihood.” – Mark 12:41-44
When we give to help the needs of the poor and the desperate, we reflect our hearts. Our hearts should be filled with gratitude and thanks to God, for His unmerited grace, and unlimited mercy towards us. When we give, we should give like how God gave His Son to us, to be our Redeemer. He had the needs of the fallen and lost human beings at the center of His heart.
– “3 Keep in mind those who are in chains, as if you were chained with them, and those who are in trouble, as being yourselves in the body.” – Hebrews 13:3
Let us know this truth; the Kingdom principles are all upside-down, in comparison to the world.
– “42 But Jesus called them to Himself and said to them, “You know that those who are considered rulers over the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. 43 Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you shall be your servant. 44 And whoever of you desires to be first shall be slave of all.” – Mark 10:42-44
When we walk such a path of generosity, and “others’ centered lives,” God is well pleased with us. Such hearts and attitudes reflect, God’s heart and His mind. Then, all what we do “unselfishly” for our LORD, becomes a blessing to us too, just as much as it would, to those in need. Therefore, we will be honoured and blessed by the LORD God Almighty, with a seat among the great and the mighty.
– “…his righteousness endureth for ever; his horn shall be exalted with honour.” – Psalm 112:9b
The rest of all what man does is but chaff. It will all be blown away, at the appointed time. Nothing lasts forever, except only what we sincerely do for the glory of God. This is the truth, and this is the reality. May we be kind and generous, like how God had been towards us – John 3:16. Even so the LORD help us.
"When all the flashes of sensual pleasure are quite extinct, when all the flowers of secular glory are withered away; when all earthly treasures are buried in darkness; when this world, and all the fashion of it, are utterly vanished and gone, the bountiful man’s state will be still firm and flourishing, and ‘his righteousness shall endure for ever.'"
