Songs are an integral part of Christian worship. Their purpose is to praise and worship God Almighty, for WHO He is, and for WHAT He has done, and will do. One of my favourite hymn is “All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name” by Edward Perronet, written in 1780. Perronet so artfully describes, the glory and the grandeur of the LORD Jesus Christ. Let look at the first stanza for our meditation, this morning.
– “All hail the power of Jesus’ name! Let angels prostrate fall. Bring forth the royal diadem, and crown him Lord of all. Bring forth the royal diadem, and crown him Lord of all!”*
In the above verse, we see the beauty of poetry, music, and sound biblical doctrine, coming together in such an exceptional harmony. The LORD Jesus, is the King of kings, and the LORD of all creation. We are called to crown Him with royal diadem, because He is the LORD of all. Such is the power of His name, that angels, and all of creation, fall prostrate, at His feet. What a glorious sight, isn’t it?
The Bible makes it amply clear that, every tongue will confess that, the LORD God Almighty, is LORD of all, and that, every knee will bow to Him, and acknowledge that, He is the LORD of all. HalleluYah!!!
– “22 “Look to Me, and be saved, All you ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other. 23 I have sworn by Myself; The word has gone out of My mouth in righteousness, And shall not return, That to Me every knee shall bow, Every tongue shall take an oath.” – Isaiah 45:22
– “9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” – Philippians 2:9-11
– “11 Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands, 12 saying with a loud voice: “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain To receive power and riches and wisdom, And strength and honour and glory and blessing!” 13 And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying: “Blessing and honour and glory and power Be to Him who sits on the throne, And to the Lamb, forever and ever!” 14 Then the four living creatures said, “Amen!” And the twenty-four elders fell down and worshiped Him who lives forever and ever.” – Revelation 5:11-14
How are we approaching this new day, as the dawn breaks out? What words are on our lips, this morning? Are words of praise and worship on our lips? Does our tongue truly and sincerely confess the LORD Jesus Christ? Do our knees bow before the LORD God Almighty? Are we falling prostrate at the feet of the God Almighty, our Redeemer, and our Master? What is the attitude of our heart this morning? What are we praising God, if we are, this morning? What kind of motives are, driving us to the King of king, and the LORD of lords?
May they be honest and sincere. May they be acceptable in the sight of our LORD. If so, then what are we waiting for? “6 Oh come, let us worship and bow down; Let us kneel before the LORD our Maker. 7 For He is our God, And we are the people of His pasture, And the sheep of His hand…” – Psalms 95:6-7. Even so, the LORD help us.
"Jesus' name is above all names, signifying His ultimate authority and divinity...Every being, whether in heaven, on earth, or under the earth, will recognize Jesus' lordship, highlighting the comprehensive scope of His reign...Believers are encouraged to willingly bow in worship and submission to Jesus now, reflecting the future reality...Understanding that all will ultimately bow to Jesus should influence our daily decisions and priorities, focusing on eternal values."
