On of the passages that we read for Christians is from Luke 2:7. It has something very important to speak to us.
– “7 And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.” – Luke 2:7
When the Messiah, Christ the LORD had come to be born in flesh and blood, to save the world, the world had no room for Him. There was no room for the Christ Child in Bethlehem. The only place the world could offer to the King of kings is a cattle shed; and the manger, the feeding trough for animals, was given as the cradle for the God of all creation.
The world had no room for its Redeemer. The LORD factored that, and allowed it to happen the way it did. The LORD God Almighty, the One who created everything, seen and unseen, is born in a cattle shed, among the animals, and was placed in a feeding trough for a cradle. It surely reflects the purpose for which the LORD Jesus had come. The Bible says that we all were gone astray, and there was none who is righteous – Romans 3:10-18. In a sense, we were like animals, even though it is an insult to animals because, they are far better than human beings.
Jesus was palace in the manger – the feeding trough of the animals. This is what the feeding trough did to the animals. They ate from it, and because of which the animals lived, and did not die of starvation. The LORD Jesus is the Bread of Life – He feeds the hungry and the needy. He is the life-giving bread for all of mankind – John 6:35.
Today, the manger is empty. The cross, on which our LORD and Saviour was crucified, is empty. The tomb in which the LORD God Almighty was placed, is empty, because the sacrifice of the LORD Jesus was acceptable, and the death could not hold Him. HalleluYah!!!
How about our hearts and our lives? Did we give the LORD Jesus, room in our hearts? Has Christ the LORD born in our hearts? Is the Eternal Bread of Life, the source of our nourishment and growth? When Christ the Messiah, the LORD Jesus is in our hearts and our lives, and are walking in faith and obedience to Him, then our hearts are full, because He is seated on the throne! This is the true JOY of CHRISTMAS.
"The palaces of emperors and the halls of kings afforded the royal stranger no refuge? Alas! my brethren, seldom is there room for Christ in palaces! How could the kings of earth receive the Lord? He is the Prince of Peace, and they delight in war!...How could kings accept the humble Saviour? They love grandeur and pomp, and he is all simplicity and meekness...How can princes find room for the new-born monarch? Why he teaches us to do to others as we would that they should do to us, and this is a thing which kings would find very hard to reconcile with the knavish tricks of politics and the grasping designs of ambition. O great ones of the earth, I am but little astonished that amid your glories, and pleasures, and wars, and councils, ye forget the Anointed, and cast out the Lord of All. There is no room for Christ with the kings."
