Today, the 28 of December, is the last Sunday of the year 2025. Of the 52 Sundays in this year, we have seen 51 of them pass us by. Can we take time to reflect on all what had happened in those 51 Sundays, on this last Sunday of the year?
– The LORD had been good to us in all the 51 Sundays of this year.
– God did speak to us on each of those Sundays, that we have seen so far in 2025.
– Did we hear the LORD’s still small voice on those 51 Sundays?
– Were we too busy with our own things, as the Sundays passed us by?
– How did we use the LORD’s Days in 2025, that has almost come to an end?
– Did we make the best use of the LORD’s Day to rest, refresh and rejuvenate ourselves in the LORD?
– Did we spend quality time with our LORD?
– Did we spend quality time meditating upon the Book that the LORD gave us?
– Did we spend sufficient time in conversation with our LORD and Master?
– Have we taken time to interact with fellow believers coming to the Church?
– Have we made ammends to any strained relationships in the Church?
– Have we tried to build bridges, instead of walls with our fellow Christians coming to the Church?
– Have we given suffient time to our family?
– Have we spent quality time with our children?
– Have we contributed to the spiritual welfare and the wellbeing of our children?
– How is our relationship with our spouse?
– How is our relationship with our parents?
– How is our relationship with our in-laws?
– How is our relationship with our relatives?
– How is our relationship with our friends?
– How is our relationship with our colleagues?
– How is our relationship with our superiors at work?
– How is our relationship with our work?
– Are we worshipping the work, instead of the LORD?
Humans are multidimensional beings. Proper and balanced development is an indication of a healthy and wholesome growth of the individual.
– ’52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.” – Luke 2:52
The four dimensions in which our LORD Jesus increased or progressed are the best indicators of our wholesome development – 1- MENTAL/INTELLECTUAL 2- PHYSICAL 3- SPIRITUAL 4- SOCIAL. These four dimensions cover all aspects of a human being, and indicate in unmistakably clear terms, a balanced and wholesome growth.
The quality of every single dimension is a reflection of the quality of our relationship with God.
– “35 Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying, 36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law? 37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.” – Matthew 22:35-40
God is part of every human dimension. There is no dichotomy between our relationship with God, and our relationship with our fellow human beings. They both are like two sides of a coin.
– If we claim a quality relationship with God, then this has to be seen in a quality relationship with our fellow human beings.
– The quality of our relationship with our fellow human beings is a true reflection, of the quality of our relationship with God.
– At the core of all human dimensions and human relationships is the spiritual dimension, and our relationship with God.
– The spiritual dimension defines and guides our every other dimension and relationship.
As we spend the last Sunday of 2025, let us pause and ponder on how things have gone by for us, thus far, spiritually. Have we honoured God? Or, have we dishonoured Him? If ever we are found wanting, let us seek Him for grace and mercy, that He would help us to be His true and faithful children, and ambassadors, in this world, as long as we live. Even so, the LORD help us.
"...Jesus defined the law in its core principles: love the LORD with everything you have and love your neighbor as yourself...God’s moral expectation of man can be briefly and powerfully said in these two sentences. If the life of God is real in our life, it will show by the presence of this love for God and others."
