Christian “DULOS” which translated is a ‘slave’ or worker, is exhorted by the Word of God through Titus, Peter and Paul, that we are to live by the “Code of Heaven” and not the standards of the world.
“9 Bondservants are to be submissive to their own masters in everything; they are to be well-pleasing, not argumentative, 10 not pilfering, but showing all good faith, so that in everything they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior.” – Titus 2:9-10
“18 Servants, be subject to your masters with all respect, not only to the good and gentle but also to the unjust. 19 For this is a gracious thing, when, mindful of God, one endures sorrows while suffering unjustly. 20 For what credit is it if, when you sin and are beaten for it, you endure? But if when you do good and suffer for it you endure, this is a gracious thing in the sight of God. 21 For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps. 22 He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth. 23 When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly.” – 1 Peter 2:18-23
“22 Bondservants, obey in everything those who are your earthly masters, not by way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but with sincerity of heart, fearing the Lord. 23 Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, 24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.” – Colossians 3:23-24
INTEGRITY, HONESTY, TRUFULNESS, TRANSPARENCY and FAITHFULNESS are the bedrock principles of a Christian worker…slave to be precise. The LORD Jesus, as exhorted by the Apostle Peter and Paul, is our role model, and we ought to follow Him obediently.
Do people see the LORD in our work and our attitude towards it? Is the “Code of Heaven” guiding our lives? What would the LORD do?
"What you do in your house is worth as much as if you did it up in heaven for our Lord God. We should accustom ourselves to think of our position and work as sacred and well-pleasing to God, not on account of the position and work, but on account of the word and faith from which the obedience and the work flow."
