SING TO HIM A NEW SONG
June 11, 2026THE END OF THE WICKED AND THE REDEEMED – “EVIL SHALL SLAY THE WICKED”
June 13, 2026We find two sets of people in this world – the “GOOD” and the BAD; the “RIGHTEOUS” and the EVIL; the “REDEEMED” and the WICKED. The LORD Jesus calls them, the SHEEP and the GOATS – Matthew 25:31-33; also, the WHEAT and the TARES – Matthew 13:24-30. The goats and the tares seems to progress and prosper very well, in this world, even though they are evil. They don’t seem to have any hinderances or obstacles to trouble them. While the sheep and the wheat seem to have every kind of obstacle thrown at them, and they appear staggering, struggling, suffering and encountering storms and strong gales, most of their lives. Life is perceived as unfair to the sheep and the wheat.
David the shepherd turned king, writing in Psalm 34:19-22, says something that helps us understand what is actually happening between the sheep and goats, and the wheat and the tares. Let us read Psalm 34:19-22 and see how things pan out for the WICKED and REDEEMED of God.
– “19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all. 20 He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken. 21 Evil shall slay the wicked: and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate. 22 The LORD redeemeth the soul of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall be desolate.” – Psalm 34:19-22
Many times one feels the evil seems to have no restraint. They may very well appear to progress unhindered; but the LORD who is JUST, will judge fairly, and His justice will be firmly established, undoubtedly. Here under are a few thoughts that I could glean, which I am sure will help us gain clearer insight, and also assured comfort from how our LORD Jesus chooses to work in His world, especially in regards to the WICKED and the REDEEMED. For this morning’s meditation, let us look at verse nineteen.
– “19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.” – Psalm 34:19
– MANY ARE THE AFFLICTIONS OF THE RIGHTEOUS
We should expect afflictions, if we desire to walk in God ordained righteous path. This is how we as Christians should approach life. As the children of Light, we should expect the darkness and the dark forces to oppose us tooth and nail, and try to stop and destabilise us, with all their strength. This is the rudimentary perspective that we should have it clearly embedded in our hearts and minds, as the Children of God.
– “18 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. 19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. 20 Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.” – John 15:18-20
– BUT THE LORD DELIVERETH HIM OUT OF THEM ALL
HalleluYah!!! The LORD Jesus does not abandon His people. The LORD cares for us and our welfare. The LORD will stand for us and will fight for us. Let there be no doubt about God’s faithfulness towards us. How the LORD chooses to work in this regard is better left to His wisdom. I see three possible scenarios.
– The LORD Jesus will either move the problem away from us.
– Or, will move us away from the problem.
– Or, will take us through the problem.
In any of these three situations, the LORD is ALWAYS with us, and He will NEVER leave is nor FORSAKE us – Hebrews 13:5b. This is for sure.
– “15 Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee. 16 Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me.” – Isaiah 49:15-16
May the LORD Jesus who truly cares for us and our welfare, be the source of all our strength, courage and inspiration to continue to walk on the narrow and perilous path. He commanded us to walk upon it, and it is He who will support and sustain us through the journey. Have no worries. The One who called us is truly FAITHFUL, let us always depend upon Him. Even so the LORD help us.
