THE END OF THE WICKED AND THE REDEEMED – “EVIL SHALL SLAY THE WICKED”

Evil presents itself as the most exciting thing ever to happen to that person. The propaganda machine that evil employs is unparalleled. The lies that evil advertises are so convincing that the people of this world fall for them again and again and again.

What evil never lets its prey know that walking the path of evil has sure consequences. The road of evil most certainly leads to death and destruction. Evil’s intent is never to uplift and empower the individual or the group or the nation. Evil has only one aim, and that is to take along with itself, as many as possible to the permanent and eternal destruction.

For our meditation this morning, let us look at Psalm 34:21. David, inspired by the LORD, pens these words of warning to all those who are pursuing evil and wicked ways in their lives. Also, these words are a serious caution to all the others, not to walk the paths of evil and wickedness. David lays bare the consequences of walking the paths of evil and wickedness in plain, clear and easy to grasp terms.
– “21 Evil shall slay the wicked: and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate.” – Psalm 34:21

The words in this short verse are simple, clear to understand and self-explanatory. They tell the seriousness of the sin of walking the paths of evil and wickedness. Also, the consequences of such a choice.
– EVIL SHALL SLAY THE WICKED
Evil SHALL slay all who choose to walk it’s paths. This is for sure. When we sow evil, then we should and must expect its consequences. Evil will kill the person who walks on its paths.

– THEY THAT HATE THE RIGHTEOUS SHALL BE DESOLATE
Evil hates righteousness. Evil can never ever like righteousness, nor can it like the righteous. Therfore, all who walk in evil ways will hate the righteous.

Rev. Matthew Poole [1624–1679] a prominent English non-conformist minister, biblical scholar, and a Puritan theologian observes that, evil for a certainty, pays badly, and the consequences of it are not only permanent, but rather eternally permanent; which in simple words is a totally hopeless situation, and nothing could be done to undo it.
– “…[the affliction of the wicked] shall end in their total and final destruction.” – Matthew Poole

The LORD our God had it written down for our benefit, the consequences of walking the paths of evil and wickedness. Any such warnings can’t be any clearer than the following words from the Bible.
– “6 Righteousness keepeth him that is upright in the way: but wickedness overthroweth the sinner.” – Proverbs 13:6
– “5 The righteousness of the perfect shall direct his way: but the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness.” – Proverbs 11:5
– “22 His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins. 23 He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.” – Proverbs 5:22-23

Dear brothers and sisters, there is no incentive whatsoever to walk the paths of evil and wickedness. They lead us to total destruction, and nothing else. This is what I could gather from the above words from the written Word of God. Let us remember always.
– EVIL SHALL SLAY THE WICKED.
– THEY THAT HATE THE RIGHTEOUS SHALL BE DESOLATE.
Therefore, let us seek that LORD Jesus earnestly and sincerely that He would help us be as far away as possible from evil and wicked ways of the world. May we be always found by our Creator and Redeemer to be faithful and obedient servant of His. Even so, the LORD help us.
