THE END OF THE WICKED AND THE REDEEMED – “THE LORD REDEEMETH HIS SERVANTS”

The LORD Jesus calls us to walk after Him, as His disciples and ambassadors. When we walk so, we will encounter resistance from our own “flesh” and also the world around us. This is a natural reaction from the sin infested world. 

To be the “enemy” of the world has serious consequences. The prince of this world hates anything and everything that is of God Almighty. He is hell bent to trouble us constantly, and if possible destroy us completely. The “flesh” in us is a willing and obedient slave of the world and its ruler. It loves the world, and wants to serve it with all its heart. 

Now if our “flesh” and the world hates this new life that the LORD Jesus offers us, then what about the safety and the progress of the redeemed person? Are we to fend for ourselves? What does the LORD say about this? Would He stand beside us and defend us? Dear brothers and sisters, the LORD Jesus who had called us to be His own, will stand by us, and will take care of all our needs…in His own way, at His own time, and at His own pace. This is the best way forward for anyone who is serious about their safety.
– “22 The LORD redeemeth the soul of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall be desolate.” – Psalm 34:22

The verse above has two parts to it.
– “THE LORD REDEEMETH THE SOUL OF HIS SERVANTS.”
– “NONE OF THEM THAT TRUST IN HIM SHALL BE DESOLATE”
The first part is the promise of the LORD to His people. The second part is the repetition of the same in different words. The emphasis is to let the Christian know that, the LORD is serious and committed about us, our provision, and our safety.

1- THE LORD REDEEMETH THE SOUL OF HIS SERVANTS
The LORD Jesus, our Creator and our Redeemer does care for us and our welfare. He will not abandon us; but rather, will do all what it takes to keep us safe and secure through any storm. Let us remember this always.
– “7 The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.” – Nahum 1:7
– 39 But the salvation of the righteous is from the LORD; He is their strength in the time of trouble. 40 And the LORD shall help them and deliver them; He shall deliver them from the wicked, And save them, Because they trust in Him.” – Psalms 37:39-40

2- NONE OF THEM THAT TRUST IN HIM SHALL BE DESOLATE
The LORD in His goodness had written it down twice in the same verse, for our comfort and our strength. Yes dear brothers and sisters, “NONE OF THEM THAT TRUST IN HIM SHALL BE DESOLATE” ever. This is the reality of a Christian’s life.
– “17 No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, And their righteousness is from Me,” Says the LORD.” – Isaiah 54:17
– “18 And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. “ – 2 Timothy 4:18

How about us this morning? What is the spiritual status of our lives? What kind of thoughts and emotions are running in our hearts and minds? Are we concerned? Are we struggling through indifferent times? Let us learn to trust God and His ways. Let us learn to walk faithfully and obediently on the path He had showed us. The rest is our LORD’s concern, and He will take care of it.
– “5 Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O LORD God of truth.” – Psalms 31:5
– “19 Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men! 20 Thou shalt hide them in the secret of thy presence from the pride of man: thou shalt keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues. 21 Blessed be the LORD: for he hath shewed me his marvellous kindness in a strong city.” – Psalms 31:19-21
– “23 O love the LORD, all ye his saints: for the LORD preserveth the faithful, and plentifully rewardeth the proud doer. 24 Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the LORD.” – Psalms 31:23-24
Even so, the LORD help us.
