Today is the first Sunday of July, a new month. We have already completed the first half of the year, and have now entered into the second half of the year. How do we go about through this new month July? Just a couple of days back, I came across an anonymous post titled “LET JULY BE…” which got me thinking on these lines – WHAT CAN WE DO IN JULY?
Here is what we can do in the month of July. The anonymous post reads…
– J – JESUS FIRST IN EVERYTHING
– U – UNDERSTAND GOD’S WILL
– L – LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE
– Y – YIELD YOUR PLANS TO GOD
I added an explanation to the above acronym J U L Y, to help us see what we can do as the disciples of the LORD Jesus in this month.
J – JESUS FIRST IN EVERYTHING
– ”1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. 2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.” – Colossians 3:1-3
Let us make the LORD Jesus our priority in everything this month. Let us seek the LORD our God with all our heart, mind and soul – “5 You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.” – Deuteronomy 6:5
U – UNDERSTAND GOD’S WILL
– “15 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, 16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. 17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.” – Ephesians 5:15-17
God wants us to live for Him in our lives. He desires that we know Him and seek His will, with all our heart, mind and soul. Thus when we live for our God, then our lives will truly reflect the LORD Jesus, and His will, which is perfectly good, will be established in and through our lives.
L – LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE
– “8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light 9 (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), 10 finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. 11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.” – Ephesians 5:8-11
We are called to be the ambassadors of the LORD Jesus Christ. We are tasked with the responsibility to live the gospel in our lives first, and then to proclaim it far and wide. We are to be the salt and the light in this world, as God’s representatives. Let us always remember to shine our light for the glory of God – *”16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”* – Matthew 5:16
Y – YIELD YOUR PLANS TO GOD
– “5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. 7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.” – Proverbs 3:5-7
Trust is the fundamental and foundational pillar of any healthy and prosperous relationship. The same applies to our relationship with our LORD Jesus. When we trust God, we will trust Him will all that concerns us. We will surrender ourselves to Him, and seek Him to help and guide us in our lives. Let us trust God and place our plans into His hands. Let us live for Him, all the days of our lives.
Dear brothers and sisters, let us always remember this – The LORD Jesus who had been good to us thus far, in enabling us to see through the first six months of this year, will be there with us ever so faithfully, to help us see us through with the next six months too. *Our LORD is good, gracious, generous, kind, merciful and loving. He will will walk with us, as He had done in the past. He will never leave us, nor forsake us. SOLI DEO GLORIA!!!
"...every follower of Jesus [is called] to live an openly radiant life that unmistakably reflects the character of Christ. Our God-given light must be deliberately displayed in real-world settings, expressed through tangible good deeds. As people witness these deeds, the spotlight shifts from us to our heavenly Father, fulfilling our chief purpose: to bring Him glory."
