The world is not a singular unit. It consists of different races, different cultures and different nations. The people in this world are very different from each other. For example…
– some eat with their fingers, while some others with chop sticks, and some others with knife, spoon and fork.
– The whole world worships different gods and goddesses…while some worship themselves.
Despite being different on almost every count, on most of the topics, yet the LORD God who created us is only one, and not many. He rules over the whole world; His dominion is over and above all the kings and their kingdoms.
The God who created us and the whole universe, is the only Sovereign LORD. There is none beside Him. Such a statement is not born out of pride or arrogance; nor such a statement is a figment of fiction. Rather, it is the fact of life, whether one realises it or not; whether one accepts is or not. This does not change because of the acceptance or non-acceptance of it by the people of the world, nor the nations of this world.
The Bible speaks on many occasions and instances about nations of the world, and God’s authority and ownership over the earth in multiple places. The thrust of all such passages in the Bible is to help the reader realise and recognise that the LORD God of the Bible governs over all nations.
– “For dominion belongs to the Lord and he rules over the nations.” – Psalm 22:28
– “7 For God is the King of all the earth; Sing praises with understanding. 8 God reigns over the nations; God sits on His holy throne.” – Psalm 47:7-8
– “14 Then to Him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, That all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, Which shall not pass away, And His kingdom the one Which shall not be destroyed.” – Daniel 7:14
Dear brothers and sisters let us realise and recognise that the LORD GOD whom we serve is the SOVEREIGN LORD of the whole earth. Nothing will stop the work and the purposes of God, nor will anything ever disturb it, destabilise it or destroy it. The Sovereignty LORD will make everything work for His purposes…even the plans of the enemy.
– “4 The LORD has made all for Himself, Yes, even the wicked for the day of doom.” – Proverbs 16:4
May we walk faithful with the Sovereign LORD, in the light of this knowledge. May we walk worthy of His name in courage and confidence, realising and recognising the sovereignty of the LORD. Even so the LORD help us.
"The idea of God's dominion is a recurring theme throughout the [Bible] and is central to the biblical narrative, affirming that all power and authority originate from Him...and He rules over the nations. [This]...highlights God's governance over all peoples and nations, not just Israel. It underscores the universal scope of God's reign...where God's sovereignty over earthly kingdoms is declared. This is significant...affirming that despite appearances, God is in control of world events."
