The Parable of the Prodigal Son is a story of perpetual amazement. Many times we misplace the primary emphasis on the Prodigal. But, as I see, it is the Father who should be the focus.
1- It is about the love of the Father.
2- His pain, anguish and agony over the son who is lost.
3- It is His desire and hope that the lost son would return back.
4- It is about the forgiveness of the Father.
5- The willingness to accept the prodigal back into the family.
6- It is rejoicing over one sinner repenting and returning.
How wonderful it is see the Father’s heart! The Bible records this in Luke 15:20 – “20 And he arose, and came to his father.
But when he was…
yet a great way off
his father saw him
had compassion
ran
fell on his neck
kissed him.”
I see myself as the recipient of such amazing and unconditional love. Love that knows no bounds. Love that loves me, just as I am. Love that cared to die for me and my sins on the Cross at Calvary. What amazing love is this, that compelled and called me out of darkness into His marvelous Light!
"Unless God is our Father, we are orphans. But God’s own Son has become our Older Brother. He comes through His Spirit, with His Father, to live with us. The Holy Spirit dwells in our lives, making us a suitable dwelling place to receive the Father and the Son! As a consequence, by the Spirit we learn that we are not abandoned and unloved, but rather that we are loved by the Father, by the Son, and lovingly cared for by the Holy Spirit (John 14:21)."
