BIBLE ON FINANCES – GIVING

Giving is the most UNSELFISH of all human traits. It is the CLOSEST to God’s character. It is a trait which is the most UNNATURAL for human beings. This is well summed up in this humorous quote – “God gives, gives and forgives. Man gets, gets and forgets.” How true!

Giving is godly trait, and the Bible has a wealth of wisdom on it. It speaks on WHY give, and WHAT it does, when we give as God does.

“9 Honour the Lord with your wealth, with the first-fruits of all your crops” – Proverbs 3:9
“25 A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.” – Proverbs 11:25
“27 Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act.” – Proverbs 3:27

“7 Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” – 2 Corinthians 9:7
“2 So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honoured by others…” – Matthew 6:2

“38 Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” – Luke 6:38
“40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.” – Matthew 25:40

Let us learn to give. Giving reflects us, and our relationship with God. Therefore, giving is more about us, than about others, or anything else for that matter. Have a great GIVING!
