Life is not constant, though it is a continuous process. Ups and downs are the norm, and not the exception. Adjustments and fine-tuning are a must, to help us ride the waves of life. In others words, we have to constantly repurpose our lives, to have any meaningful existence. There is no other way out.
When we hit bumps on the road called life, we have to intentionally repurpose our life, without losing any enthusiasm for life, and living itself. I can think of two amazing characters from the Bible – Job and Joseph. They both stand tall as examples, encouragement and inspiration.
They both lost everything they held dear. All their problems happened out of the blue, and totally unexpected. The loss was severe, painful and permanent. There was none to help them. None to speak words of comfort and encouragement. The future was bleak, uncertain and hopeless…to say the least. It is impossible for us to even comprehend the pain, suffering and the agony of Job and Joseph.
What separates both of them, is the fact, that they both stood their ground. They did not lose sight of God, and who they were in Him. They grit their teeth, tightened their belts, and began to rebuild themselves. They tried to find meaning in the midst of all the chaos and confusion. They held their heads high, and did not lose any enthusiasm for life and living. This is essential for survival and success.
Job and Joseph are shining examples to us. When life hits us hard, we have to look it in the eye, and pick up the gauntlet it throws at us. We have to. The LORD is with us. He will never leave us nor forsake us. He will help us and guide us. Let us look to Him and step out to face all that is challenging us. The victory is ours when the battle is the LORD’s. The LORD is with us!
"What then are we to do about our problems? We must learn to live with them until such time as God delivers us from them. We must pray for grace to endure them without murmuring. Problems patiently endured will work for our spiritual perfecting. They harm us only when we resist them or endure them unwillingly."
