Let us read, for our meditation today, from Isaiah 41:10-13. This is one of my favourite passages. Every time I read it, I am recharged and rejuvenated in my spirit, mind and body. Such is the power of the Word of God…
“10 Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’
11 “Behold, all those who were incensed against you Shall be ashamed and disgraced; They shall be as nothing, And those who strive with you shall perish. 12 You shall seek them and not find them – Those who contended with you. Those who war against you Shall be as nothing, As a nonexistent thing.
13 For I, the LORD your God, will hold your right hand, Saying to you, ‘Fear not, I will help you.” – Isaiah 41:10-13
The words “FEAR NOT” reverberate throughout the Bible. Someone said, “Fear Not” is mentioned 365 times in the Bible – one for each day of the year! In fact, Bill Gaultiere says, “…there are way more than 365 “Fear nots” in the Bible!” [Your Best Life In Jesus’ Easy Yoke]
“FEAR NOT” is both a command and a promise at the same time. We are commanded by God, not to fear anything. Also, “FEAR NOT” is a promise of God, assuring us of His Presence and Providence and Protection, at all times, and in all circumstances. HalleluYah!!!
Not fearing, when faced with tough, challenging and turbulent times, is not so easy, even for a seasoned Christian. We do get scared and are afraid. This is a challenge, that we ought to face, and overcome, with the help of God. We have to learn to walk by faith, and not by sight – 2 Corinthians 5:7. “Fear, worry, and anxiety are often sin. When the God who rules over the nations as described in Isaiah 41:2-4, the God who chose us and loves us as described in Isaiah 41:8-9, when that God tells us fear not, we must take it seriously!” [Enduring Word Commentary]
God is always true to His word. He will not back off, nor break His promise – NEVER EVER! Therefore, let us learn to trust God, and learn to walk in obedience to God. The rest will be taken care of by the LORD.
"Whatever [the] fears, encourage [yourself] to face them - and then turn them over to God. God loves [you], and when we know Christ, and have put our faith and trust in Him, we know He’ll never abandon us."
