We, who live in the age of internet, are blessed and cursed at the same time. The good that is available is not taken, rather bad is lapped up. We seem to be drawn more to sinful things and not the good things.
The age we live in, believes absolutely, that there are no absolutes. That position in itself, being irrational and impossible, is of no consequence at all. Such is the state of our reasoning and our rationale.
Each individual holds his or her own truth. It doesn’t matter what others think. What I think as truth is the truth for me. “If you don’t like it, just take a walk,” seems to be the foundational principle of the present age.
The news travels at the speed of thought. However, no one cares if it is true or not. For what is true for me need not be true to the other. As an icing on the cake, the age is also infamous for lies, half-truths and fake news, which are peddled as my truth.
Small wonder then, that we made for ourselves, a “beast” called social media, that feeds and pampers the hunger pangs of our desire to be our own gods …a “golden calf” of our age.
The Bible’s speaks for absolutes. For without it, everything would be chaos and anarchy. The Bible also exhorts us to seek for truth, and ascertain its veracity and its worth. The apostle John writing in 1 John 4:1 has this to say – “1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.”
Therefore, let us build a spirit of inquiry; a desire to search for the truth, and stand for it no matter the cost. May the LORD help us.
"Truth is so obscure in these times, and falsehood so established, that, unless we love the truth, we cannot know it."
