August 22, 2026Who is a Christian? A Christian is a follower and a disciple of the LORD Jesus Christ. A true Christian is CHRIST-LIKE…in his thought, word and deed. In simple words, his conduct would be just like that of the LORD Jesus Christ. For to be like our LORD Jesus, is the whole purpose of we becoming Christians.
– “29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.” – Romans 8:29
– “18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.” – 2 Corinthians 3:18
– “2 Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.” – 1 John 3:2
If one claims to be a Christian, then such a person’s character and his conduct has to reflect Christi the LORD. If we are not mirroring the LORD Jesus Christ in our hearts, minds and all our dealings, then we have to question ourselves, if we are truly following the LORD Jesus Christ.
– “3 Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. 4 He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. 6 He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.”* – 1 John 2:3-6
The ultimate test of we knowing the LORD Jesus, is in reflecting Him in our lives. We are called to follow Christ the LORD…and He has to be seen in all our thoughts, words and deeds.
– “1 Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. 2 And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.” – Ephesians 5:1-2
There are some who have denied the LORD Jesus Christ by loving the world, and following its paths for selfish ends. We see some such people in the Bible. What a tragedy it is to see such people wrecking their lives, because they loved the world more than the LORD Jesus.
– “15 To the pure all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure; but even their mind and conscience are defiled. 16 They profess to know God, but in works they deny Him, being abominable, disobedient, and disqualified for every good work.” – Titus 1:15-16
– “10 for Demas has forsaken me, having loved this present world, and has departed for Thessalonica…” – 2 Timothy 4:10a
– “15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. 17 And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.” – 1 John 2:15-17
How are we faring in this dear brothers and sisters? For being Christ-like is an authentication of our discipleship, and an indispensable indication of our progressive sanctification, and our transformation from who we were, to who we actually are.
– “40 A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone when he is fully trained will be like his teacher.” – Luke 6:40
May the LORD Jesus when He comes in His glory not only recognises us His own, but with joy declare, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.” – Matthew 25:21. Even so, the LORD help us.
