Oh who can grasp the goodness, grace and mercy of the LORD? What can fathom God’s love for us, the lost sinners? Can anyone describe the LORD and His passion to rescue us? The love for the lost, compelled the LORD, to seek and save us.
The hymn, “And Can It Be, That I Should Gain?” written by Charles Wesley, is exceptional hymn. What powerful words, that expound the great truths about God’s love, grace and mercy!!! What a wonderful hymn it is it!!!
*mazing love! how can it be
That Thou, my God, should die for me!
“He left His Father’s throne above,
So free, so infinite His grace;
Emptied Himself of all but love,
And bled for Adam’s helpless race:
’Tis mercy all, immense and free;
For, O my God, it found out me.
’Tis mercy all, immense and free;
For, O my God, it found out me.”
What insightful hymn it is! What lessons to learn about God and His amazing love!!
– FIRSTLY: The love that God shows towards us is, amazing and unparalleled. What should make us, to sit up, and take note is that, if we truly realise and grasp it, that God loved us, when we were totally worthless, and utterly lost – “But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ- by grace you have been saved.” – Ephesians 2:4-5
– SECONDLY: God who showered such amazing and extraordinary love, upon undeserving us, expects us, to love, just like Him, all who are undeserving, and unworthy of our love – “27 “But I say to you who hear: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you…31 And just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise. 32 “But if you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them…35 But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil. 36 Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful.” – Luke 6:27-28, 31-32, 35-36
– THIRDLY: We are to love not only our enemies and persecutors, but also our fellow brothers and sisters, who may not be all that we expect them to be – 34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” – John 13:34-35
Wishing all of us, a great day, and a wonderful week. Let us reflect our LORD, through love, in all our thoughts, words and deeds, as is expected of us, as His disciples, followers and ambassadors.
"Here's the paradox. We can fully embrace God's love only when we recognize how completely unworthy of it we are."
