Persecution is considered as a big problem these days. Of course, it is, and most certainly it is wrong. What surprises me is the fact, that Churches and Christians too are appalled at the persecution. I think there should be no surprise in Christians being persecuted. Rather we should expect it.
Beale puts it across very well. Light and darkness are on two ends of the spectrum. They can never peacefully coexist. Darkness desires always to destroy the LIGHT. Therefore, persecution of a ‘witnessing Church’ is a foregone conclusion. The practical implementation of it is a mere formality, and only a matter of ‘when’ and ‘how.’
It is good for us as the Church, and as Christians, to be prepared for it. That makes it easier for us.
