Some of the most prosperous people on the face of the earth, have always been, the wicked and the unjust. They don’t seem to have any obstacles for their growing prosperity. There seems no law, that can bring them to justice. They seem to be thriving, all the while, walking on the path of injustice and evil.
The anguish of those, who desire to walk justly and fairly is, agonisingly painful. The fact that the wicked and the unjust appear to be above the law is, even more painful. Let us see what the Bible has to say about such people.
Continuing our meditations on Proverbs 11, let us look at verse 7, today. *Bible is God’s written Word for us.* It surely has something for us, who desire to walk uprightly in His ways.
– “7 When a wicked man dies, his expectation will perish, And the hope of the unjust perishes.” – Proverbs 11:7
Please note the two parts to the above verse. *Wicked man, when he dies, has all his expectations perish with him.* All those who walk on evil, wicked and unjust paths, will have their expectations perish. Their death is the end of all their “invincible” power.
Secondly, we see that any hope of the unjust people, will utterly perish, along with them. The wicked man dies hopeless. What a tragic end to a life that seemed, invincible and all powerful. This is the justice of God Almighty. Nothing will go unpunished in the equation of God.
Let us see what else, the Bible says about the justice and fairness of God, in regards to human actions.
– “7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.” – Galatians 6:7
– “5 But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, 6 who “will render to each one according to his deeds”: 7 eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality; 8 but to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness—indignation and wrath, 9 tribulation and anguish, on every soul of man who does evil, of the Jew first and also of the Greek; 10 but glory, honor, and peace to everyone who works what is good, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. 11 For there is no partiality with God.” – Romans 2:5-11
– “10 Then I saw the wicked buried, who had come and gone from the place of holiness, and they were forgotten in the city where they had so done. This also is vanity. 11 Because the sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil. 12 Though a sinner does evil a hundred times, and his days are prolonged, yet I surely know that it will be well with those who fear God, who fear before Him. 13 But it will not be well with the wicked; nor will he prolong his days, which are as a shadow, because he does not fear before God. 14 There is a vanity which occurs on earth, that there are just men to whom it happens according to the work of the wicked; again, there are wicked men to whom it happens according to the work of the righteous. I said that this also is vanity.” – Ecclesiastes 8:10-14
Lose not hope my friend. The LORD who is on the throne is, just and righteous. He brings everything into account, and will judge everything that is done. For a while, the wicked and the unjust, may appear all powerful and unstoppable. Lose not your heart, the LORD will judge fairly and justly. All glory to Him, the One who is the Judge of all creation.
